☞ The maximum range depends on the atmospheric condition. Rain, strong sunlight or severe heat shimmer can decrease the maximum range.

☞ A tangential movement means the prism is passing by the instrument at the specified distance. A radial movement means the prism is moving away from or towards the instrument in the line of sight direction.
