8.7.1 Wi-Fi setup

Here you can set up connection to a local Wi-Fi network.
A wizard will take you through the process of setting up connection:

  • Accept use of wireless network.
  • Search for, and select, network.
  • Define security protocol (WPA, WPA2 or Auto).
  • Enter Wi-Fi password and press "Connect".
  • Press flag icon to complete wizard.

8.7.2 SIM card setup

Here you can set up connection through a SIM card.
Make sure a SIM card has been inserted into the docking station or GNSS sensor before setting up the connection.
Press "Docking station" (section 8.7.2.1) or "GNSS sensor" (section 8.7.2.2) depending on which modem and SIM-
card you want to use.
Press "None" if you want to disable connection through your SIM-card.NOTE:

  • The docking station SIM card slot (at the side of the docking station) can be accessed using a 3mm Allen key.

 

8.7.2.1 SIM card setup (Docking station)

Press "Docking station", and then press the "Configure SIM" menu.
Press "Enter number" to enter the PIN code for your SIM card. The PIN code can be obtained from your service provider.
Press "internet" and enter the APN string for your service provider (in this case "Vodafone" in Greece).
If needed for the connection, press "APN username" and "APN password" boxes, and enter relevant username and password.
Press tick mark icon again to return to "Connectivity" menu, where SIM card will display as "Enabled".
8.7.2.2 SIM card setup (GNSS sensor)

Press "GNSS sensor", and then press the "Configure SIM" menu. This will take you to the first page with SIM card settings.
Enter the PIN code for your SIM card. Once verified, you will see a "green" tick mark, and the message "Valid PIN".
If you enter an incorrect PIN code too many times, your PIN is locked, and the "PUK" field is activated. If so, enter your PUK code and set a new PIN code. If the PUK code you enter is verified, your new PIN is also accepted, and you can proceed.

Press arrow key to access second page with SIM card settings.
Enter the "APN string" of your SIM card provider. If required, enter "APN username and password".
Press the "Connect to internet" button to establish connection.8.7.2.2 SIM card setup (GNSS sensor)

Press "GNSS sensor", and then press the "Configure SIM" menu. This will take you to the first page with SIM card
settings.

Press arrow key to access second page with SIM card settings.

  • If your connection fails, you will see the following error message: "Make sure SIM card has credit. Check APN settings. Check if modem antenna is connected to GNSS receiver".

 

8.7.3 Ethernet setup

Here you can set up a cabled ethernet connection.

  • Attach an ethernet cable to the docking station.
  • Press ethernet setup menu.
  • Select mode of operation. You can choose between "Auto" or "Manual".
  • Select or de-select "Camera" (VA system required).
  • Press arrow key to move to next page.
  • Follow wizard and finish setup by pressing the flag icon.

The next two sections show you which values you need to enter during “Auto” setup (section 8.7.3.1) or “Manual”
setup (section 8.7.3.2).NOTE:

  • Manual mode lets you manually type in IP address, netmask and gateway.
  • If camera is selected, you will have the option to auto log and save an image of the tool point location when you create a point log (see section 9.1.4 Auto save images).


8.7.3.1 Ethernet setup (Auto)

Set up an “Auto” Ethernet connection:

  • Press the “Mode” menu.
  •  Select “Auto”.
  • Press the right arrow.
  • Check Ethernet status and press the flag icon to finish setup.

8.7.3.2 Ethernet setup (Manual)

Set up a “Manual” Ethernet connection:

  • Press the “Mode” menu.
  • Select “Manual”.
  • Press the right arrow.
  • Enter IP address and netmask.
  • Press the right arrow.
  • Decide if the connection will be used for Internet.
  • Enter gateway and primary/secondary DNS.
  • Press the right arrow.
  • Check Ethernet status and press the flag icon to finish setup.



8.7.4 ConX setup
» Main menu » Settings » Connectivity » ConX setup


Here you can set up connection to a ConX account.

  • Press ConX setup menu.
  • Type in the server address: conx.leica-geosystems.com
  • Press "Request code". A code appears that you must type in on ConX, not on the panel.
  • Enable or disable auto synchronisation of logged points (As-built data).
  • Enable or disable download of other machines’ logged points.
  • Press tick mark icon to complete connection.


NOTES:
  • The ConX machine license is on ConX, not on the panel.
  • The pairing is complete when the panel code is entered on ConX.
  • If as-built auto synchronisation is disabled, points will only be synchronised when a synchronisation is done from the panel.
  • If as-built auto synchronisation is enabled, logged points will be synchronised in real-time. As soon as they are logged, they will be available in ConX.

 

8.7.5 Local VNC server
» Main menu » Settings » Connectivity » Local VNC server


Here you can set up connection to a local VNC server.

  • Connect an ethernet cable between your PC and router.
  • Connect an ethernet cable between the docking station and router, making sure PC and docking station is on the same network.
  • Switch "Local VNC server" ON in MC1.
  • Press “Agree” to the disclaimer pop up.
  • Enter VNC server IP address - the one used by the VNC viewer program on connected PC. The address used in the VNC viewer is the one shown on the panel, with the addition of :5966.
  • Double click on the connection profile and type in the password: iVNC
  • Make sure no security or username has been set on PC side.
  • Press OK.
You should now be able to see the panel on your connected PC screen.
NOTE:
  • VNC server setup does not require an internet connection. It is meant to be used at exhibitions - with an ethernet cable between docking station and a router, and with a VNC viewer on a computer (PC) on the same network.
